The 500-year flooding event that hit mid-Michigan back in May 2020 caused millions of gallons of water to gush over the failed Edenville and Sanford dams. The damage the water left behind is ongoing and community members will be picking up the pieces for years to come.

It took five months to gather the resources to begin cleaning up the debris from the Sanford Dam. The dam was packed full of trees, boats, docks and so much more.

The devastation left behind from this major flooding event has been an eyesore and a painful reminder since May.

Sanford community members stuck together through it all and made sure things kept moving along to improve their town after everything was destroyed.
